The End of Times is here, but not the end we think the end is. This is the end of a historical time that began with Nixon and ends with the last chapter Trump. We are not in the Theater of the Absurd. We can all see it, we all know it.
Before the caterpillar enters the cocoon, it becomes dysfunctional. It doubles-down on the only thing it knows, being a worm. When the end of near, we double-down on the strength that made us strong, but when the end is near, our strength has turned into its opposite (as all things do and become its weakness. You are done in by the very thing that made you strong.
What is the strength of the Republican party? Loyalty. Marching to the beat of talking points as Newt Gingrich taught them. This is the strength of the Redcoats. Don’t retreat. Don’t show weakness. Don’t question your position. This is also the strength of the con man.
At the End of Times, things get crazy, a field day for the comics. The shovel that used to dig us out of a hole now digs us deeper. We can all see it. Smile. Laugh. This is the End of Times.
Hitler was defeated by his own strength, when his army was surrounded at Stalingrad, he prevented his generals from escaping the trap. Attack, go forward, Blitzkrieg, never retreat. This was absurd. His generals knew it, but their strength was obedience to the Fuehrer. Stay with the program. Hitler lost his army and the tide turned against Germany in Russia. The End of Times. Need I remind you that Stalingrad was in Ukraine.
Trump’s strength is the strength of the conman who never admits the con, even if it leads to the chair, never admit, never confess, for at the last minute, you may get a reprieve. He must be telling the truth when death does not turn him, we believe.
Trump’s strength is that of Hitler’s Nazis: create a believable facade of goodness behind which you can hide your real intention, the self-service of power for power’s sake
As Trump is caught in his own Stalingrad, he must double-down on the lies that brought him this far. No matter how high the evidence piles, Trump proclaims his innocence. Lying has been his strength but now it becomes his weakness. He will keep lying to the end of time.
Hitler saw communism as his greatest threat because he understood that it was a system/religion that must keep expanding to exist. Nazism was a system/religion that had to keep expanding to exist. Hitler and Stalin were to expanding worlds that collided, and Hitler lost. We did supply Russia until they could reorganize themselves beyond the reach of the invading Nazis.
But the Turning Point was Stalingrad that stopped the Nazis advance. Hitler was both right and wrong. Stop advancing you stop winning. The elevator must never stop going up.
Trump can never stop winning, so he must lie that he is winning over and over to keep convincing himself and his diehards that he is still winning, even while the Russians surround Berlin.
Both communism and Nazism fit the definition of a secular religion, one that satisfies the heart yearnings of the modern secular world of expanding national empires of the 20th century. National identity because a religious identity in the 20th century and this ONE that can have no second is Empire like the Roman and the British. USSR, Germany, and Japan were expanding empires.
The last empire standing was America. But then it was checked by the expansion of the USSR which became the Cold War.
That dream of Oneness continues today politically in America, as identity has shifted from the nation as a whole to a political party with its own ideology. In this way, the GOP has become a national religion whose existence is justified by its war with Liberalism, which, BTW, it equates with socialism/communism and the loss of individual freedom. It’s ironic.
The Cold War keeps shifting from one game board to another.
