The Law of Zero

March 4, 2019 by admin Leave a Comment

Zen and Avatar both say that the Mother restores balance, or the cosmos (nature) is always sum zero. If you add one positive number to the scale in order to over come a feeling of inadequacy, nature will add one negative weight to the scale. You sill feel unworthy so you add two pounds, and you get two pounds of self-loathing…and so it goes until you are an inflated megalomaniac who us running from the tons of self loathing you have added to the scale. The image is of Archimedes who said if I had a lever I could move that world. That lever is Zero. If I make no effort, I can move the world. Now that is a Zen Koan…let’s look at it.

The trap is that we have to use our given strengths to escape the loathing that is chasing us, and, guess what, sum zero again because the shovel we use to dig out is also burying us. Same shovel, same action. We are One..Zero..or Now…no matter what we do. But we don’t feel it until we see it. Then there is a huge very painful SNAP when the two shovels become One Zero.

Oh, the irony….we flee from loathing so we can be the one without a second, and when we see that we are fleeing ourselves, we become Zero…the One without a second. We get what we were chasing and fleeing both at the same time.

Step back and you can see the Map of Trump…always fleeing his self-loathing he built higher and higher towers, always living at the top that flees the floors that chase him, and then he leaps to the White House, as if there, finally, he would be the One without a second and his foundation of self-loathing would leave him alone…

But no…everyone still does not love him, so now he must climb higher, inflating himself like a hot air balloon…higher and higher into the stratosphere of the Absurd…taking his fleet of followers with him…intoxicated on the height, going where no rational human has gone before…drunk on the madness. The higher you go, the greater the fear of letting the air out of the balloon.

WOW…when I give a talk like this, I feel kind of drained yet kind of high when I come back to ground zero which is my FB column…While I know what I’m going to talk about, I’m always a little surprised at what I say.

This is so important, this IDEA of Zero….While we can contemplate Zero like we do math, the real zero is YOU. And you can’t contemplate that. You can only SEE it. But IT is not a concept or idea. That is the math. You can’t eat math for it’s a symbolic language of logic. So Zero is logical, but you have to leap beyond logic to see Zero.

We all have good intentions to be good. We cannot avoid that. But at the same time the Law of Zero means that every good intention is going to be balanced with a bad intention, however, I can’t be both good and bad at the same time, so I am going to have to our source the effects of the bad intention and blame that on something, usually some Other, but if that fails, then myself. Something has to be the cause of this bad effect because it can’t be me. I HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS!
