A working metaphor is a personal ritual, your sacrament, by which you restore unity between your body and mind. When separated from body, the mind becomes a worry tape-loop. A working metaphor is a tool the restores your ground and heals the wound. Religious have such rituals but they have lost the power for most. You have to invent your own sacraments, these portals through which Grace can restore you to your source, the ground of your being…you body. We live in the Image, even the image of the body, but not in the real body, which is the earth, which is the world. The whole cosmos is you interconnected body. There are no separate things, no dancers, only the dance.
But the mind perceives ourselves and the world as made of separate disconnected things. This is the end result of the Cartesian Wound. We need a God Box in which we can put our body and mind together and let them make love.
