RELEASE YOUR POTENTIAL. Here we are on the last day of the year, and my intention for the new year is to release my potential, and for you to release your potential. Quantum Physics says reality is potential, and it is your mind that releases it or not. You see the world as being locked in what it is, a literal interpretation of the world as being fixed by the past OR. you see the world as potential. You are the world and the world Isi you. You are either fixed by your past OR you are liberated to release your potential.
But here’s the qualifier. Your potential is conditioned by conditions. You can’t potentially be what conditions will not allow. Conditions are the creative fuel for your potential, so all you need to release you potential is what you already have, the conditions you have.
Here’s the enigma I’ve worked with all my life. How do you release your potential? Obviously, we don’t know what our potential is because it doesn’t exist…yet. Your potential is transcendent of your experience of who. you are, which is conditioned by your past, locked in by your past. There is no potential in your past, nor is there potential in your future. Your potential is always already Now, but the Now is transcendent of appearances. What you perceive is conditioned by. your past. See the problem?
This is where Metaphor comes in to rescue. Joseph Campbell spent his whole life trying to explain the power of metaphor. Poets now the power of metaphor. To the poet everything is a metaphor, everything is a potential poem, a potential revelation. Everything is potential.
Metaphor is a two way street sign that says: This is that; This is not that. The metaphor contains the ambiguity, and this tension of contained opposite generates creative energy (like the positive and negative poles of a battery) …and creative energy is the release of your potential. See?
During my Martini Time talks I play with metaphor that releases the creative potential of the talk. Being a Martini Priest is a metaphor that releases my potential. I’m a priest; I’m not a priest. The Martinis is the Eucharist; it is not the Eucharist.
And now I’m the Last Jedi Knight. The metaphor contains the incompatible frames of reference: I am a Jedi; I am not a Jedi. Ambiguous. The metaphor contains the opposite poles and generates creative energy. The metaphor relates potential.
Everything is a metaphor in the mystic’s eye. Ed Conley is a metaphor. I am Ed Conley; I am not Ed Conley. You are _________: you are not. ________. Release the potential.
But the metaphor is the bridge that holds the contradiction as a creative energy generating tension…that must create in order to resolve the intolerable ambiguity. BAM!
You MUST create in order to remove the suffering of duality, of existence that our consciousness creates by dividing your mind into the Perceive and the Perceived. When you see this you will just fall down on the floor laughing. We. create our suffering; we have to create our way out of it.
May your Potential be released in the New Year.
