Progress is a treadmill: we think we are going somewhere while we are walking in place. Both opposites are simultaneously true at the same time.
Whether we are going somewhere or walking in place depends on our perspective or observation point. Creativity is when you can hold both contradictory views simultaneously: the creative Idea leaps forth and you see yourself as One instead of two conflicting views.
When I see my self as making progress, I’m optimistic; when I see myself as walking in place, I’m pessimistic. Creative energy is generated when we can put these two hands, two poles together. By giving up the struggle, I progress.
My name is Optimism/Pessimist Ed…or OP ED.
