Je Suis Country music. Let’s look at Ken Burns’s documentary on country music, and we realize the metaphor: You are Country Music. The country artist takes his suffering and turns it like an alchemist into joy; sorrow and loss are transmuted into redemption through the music.
All the country music artists were born in extreme poverty, for the most part, so their suffering was intense, and it was through their music, their talent that they all struggled to escape their poverty through music, and that meant finding their own unique voice. You didn’t become famous by just singing like other singers. You had to discover something special, something unique. The irony is that you become whole by being different.
When you are truly unique, everyone becomes you and you become everyone.
