The Republicans have always longed for and championed the strong male leaders, the take-charge guy who comes in on a horse and restore law and order to the western town overrun by gunslingers. The Democrats have demanded a social engineer who can work with everybody, a peacemaker who has empathy for everyone. The Republican wants a leader with a sword, the Dems have always picked one with a butter knife to spread great policies around.
I think it’s time we brought in a gunslinger to fight a gunslinger. Shane…remember that western. My all-time favorite because the American mythos was so clear. Alan Ladd was short also.
WHAT IS ANXIETY SATURATION?
When it comes to Bloomberg, I’m really just predicting the weather here. it’s not for me who is the best social engineer, the best plans and programs, of the person I personally like (hell, I don’t know any of them personally), or who I’d like to have a beer with.
What I see is that all the Dems are potentially good presidents, and their policies are not that different. But Trump looms there on the horizon like Ravana in Hindu mythology with the biggest war chest in Republican history
After the first four primaries and we are still tied, four horses in the front, I can sense there will be a massive shift to Bloomberg on Super Tuesday in order to relieve the intolerable tension of not having a sure front runner who can unite the party and beat Trump, which is now the primary goal, not who has the better health care.
So I see this in psychological terms. Who can relieve the Dem anxiety that is reaching a saturation point? In Chemistry and evolution, and in creativity, when saturation reaches an anxiety level that cannot be tolerated, there is always a sudden shift to an unknown or unexpected idea or solution.
Trump is the personification of the ME paradigm. Trump sees himself as the center of the world. I am America; America is Me!
Those who identify with the paradigm feel as if they two are at the center, and as long as you can ward off attacks, you remain at the center like a matador fending off the bulls.
Fox is an anxiety delivery system that blames your anxiety on the Liberals.
Fox satisfies religious anxiety by reporting on the progress of the Crusade against modernity. Secular humanism is the enemy of the Evangelicals, and Liberalism is the enemy of Fox. But creating a single enemy with two faces, Fox and the 700 Club create a coin that no matter which face comes up, you feel like you are winning.
A winning general assesses his enemy and turns his strengths into weaknesses. At first, Bloomberg was weak because he was too late to enter the four early primaries. That was a weakness. He turned it into strength because he has been campaigning in the Super Tues states, like VA where the big pot of electors is while the front runners divide the votes in the early states.
When you have to fight a Tiger Tank, you send a Pershing tank with more armor and a bigger gun. You don’t send a Sherman Tank because the Tiger can hit it before the Sherman can get close enough to have an effect.
Bloomberg is not buying the election, he is buying attention
The Holy Grail is when your ads and tweets against Trump get repeated in mainstream news because they are clever and put down Trump. That’s like a good Super Bowl add that becomes news
Trump is the Coronavirus
Americans have been hypnotized by 24/7 media since birth that reality is a TV show. We think we can watch the Rapture eating popcorn. We don’t believe AMERICA can be destroyed. We don’t believe we can be attacked. We don’t believe America can die. We believe America is immortal. That death can be swept under the rug. That we are going to live forever.
What? You mean America can die? Trump is a slow-moving Coronavirus. But we laugh and drink Corona beer. See, it won’t kill you.
We do the best we can in the conditions that are given. The policies enacted to change those NYC conditions when seen in the rearview mirror of now when conditions are different are judged as wrong policies.
I believe Bloomberg was a Republican at the time. Trump supported his policies, but conditions have changed and Trump says it was racist.
I was listening to the “black viewpoint” on MSNBC this morning, and Search and Frisk was condemned as racial profiling. Bloomberg said he sent the police to the neighborhoods where the crime was, which was black/brown neighborhoods. So yes it was racial and it was not racial. With our moral logic of either this OR that, we cannot handle ambiguity. It was racial; it was not racial.
The irony is that the policies under question created in the past conditions helped change the future conditions that now judge the past policies bad.
And that is a Zen Koan. If you say it was racial, I’ll hit. you; if you say it was not racial, I’ll hit. You which is it. Choose or I’ll hit you.
I remember NYC in the past when the subways were full of graffiti and the streets full of sex trafficking and muggers.
But I must say Times Square is so safe now it’s boring. I miss the dirty movies and the “hair raised on the back of your neck” sidewalks.
All of the “burning tires” Trumps can hang around the other Dems won’t fit over Bloomberg’s head. He is not a socialist, gay, a woman, or a lifelong Democrats. And he cannot use Stop and Frisk since Trump himself supported it. So what will pierce Bloomberg’s armor?
The NRA logic works. A bad guy with a gun can be defeated by a good guy with a gun. Bloomberg.
Bloomberg shows strength; he doesn’t promise it. That is why Trump was elected; he showed strength during the debates, he didn’t promise it. While the front runners pop at themselves, Bloomberg sits on a hill firing armor-piercing shells at Trump.
I’ve been watching a Prime doc on Tank Battles, and one can learn a lot from studying tank battles. Trump is like Hitler’s Blitzkrieg: an attack so fast you confuse and surround your enemy.
But I do believe that the tide of battle is going to turn dramatically. Bloomberg reminds me of Patton. Trump’s Walls will just be bypassed, using his Blitzkrieg against him.
I switched to Bloomberg after tasting all the other candidates. They all have great programs and insights into our systematic problems, But then I realized we are in a tank battle with a Tiger Tank, We need a Pershing Tank with the same armor and cannon. Trump’s shells will bounce off Bloomberg. Shooting programs and better health care at Trump will not pierce his armor.
When a suddenly took a park bench seat and looked at the pollical playground with the front runners from outside of it, I can see that the Dems are missing the truth of this fight. Empathy and great social programs will come only if we win. You cannot beat Evil with Goodness. You have to match a Tiger Tank with another tank with better armor and a longer cannon. Bloomberg.
The disaster if Iowa and the Trump resurgence after the Impeachment, seemingly stronger than ever, makes me take another look at Bloomberg. While the Dem tanks are blowing themselves up, this guy looks like a Tiger tank, a bulldozer of money, know-how, and determination. I have been talking about the need for vision and bypassing Trump with issues, policies and Logic, but now I’m not so sure. The Dems need to attack head-on.
IOWA is our wake-up call, the call to arms. We cannot just nominate anybody to beat Trump. Bread and butter issues will not beat Trump. He likes Wonder Bread with a liberal spread of butter.
I have come to the conclusion that Democratic voters don’t’ really want style, charisma, policies or vision, all of which I have wanted. What they really want is to win, to feel they are winning, to find the key that will unlock winning. That is what Trump promised and demonstrated; “You’ll get sick of winning.”
Dems are sick of losing….but not just sick of losing, they are terrified of losing. The stakes are now beyond winning and losing.
While the other candidates are taking the high road to stay out of the Trump gutter, I think Bloomberg may want to go there and slug it out, and I think that’s what Democrats are ready for, the Great Tank Battle of 2020.
We see the threat, finally, and we are marshaling our forces, preparing for the great battle. Armageddon, we might say, the last battle for the soul of America? Who will lead us? A social engineer or a tank commander? Bloomberg.
