Where are the students?

This was a fun talk where I learned something and that is the point. Spiritual teaching is not teaching something known, but teaching something you don’t know, that you discover in the teaching. The spiritual teacher knows nothing, and it is this not knowing that activates the teaching. So the Spiritual Teacher has to let go of his deep hearing to be a spiritual teacher. You get to be a spiritual teacher by not wanting to be a spiritual teacher. Ironic, isn’t it.

Spiritual teaching isn’t spiritual and it isn’t teaching. So there. Its not spiritual because spiritual means formless, so it isn’t about anything. And it isn’t teaching because it doesn’t flow from a full bucket to an empty bucket. And there is nothing in the bucket!

Spiritual teaching is a creative relationship. But it doesn’t create form or anything. Spiritual Teaching create Insight. ST (I’ll abbreviate) is an Intermediate Zone, like between two armies that is a catalyst that activates Insight. Insight is SEEING. ST activates SEEING, and SEEING heals the wound of division. SEEING integrates your fragmented world, your broken world. SEEING is not passive but active healing. SEEING is DOING. When you SEE, you know what to do, and knowing what to do is action. When you SEE, you cannot help but act. If you SEE that your hand is on a hot plate, the SEEING removes your hand. You don’t have to think whether you should remove your hand or not. There is no gap between SEEING and Action. No thought whatsoever, and no thought, no time and no choice. You can check this out in your everyday mind.

So what do I do? I like to create Intermediate Zones on Facebook where Insight happens. It doesn’t happen all the time, but once in awhile it does. And that’s enough for me
