Night and day, you are the one
Only you beneath the moon, under the sun
Whether near to me or far
It’s no matter darlin’, where you are
I think of you night and day
Night and day, why’s it so
That this longing for you, follows wherever I go
In the roaring traffic’s boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you night and day
Night and day, under the hide of me
There’s an ooh, such a hungry yearning, burning inside of me
And this torment won’t be through
Till you let me spend my life making love to you
Day and Night
Night and Day

Wow…I really enjoyed this talk. I learned so much about Cole Porter and the Yearning for the One. When I talk with you, you are near to me and not far. when I talk to you, there is a hungry yearning inside of me to express this Oneness of You and me. So these talks are spontaneous expressions of unity, of Oneness, and as such they inform me as I hope they inform you.
I come to these talks with something to say that I know not what. A frog voice cries in the gloom: What shall I be? The talk wants to be born. I have an intention that directs the talk, like today I wanted to talk about Cole Porter. But I didn’t know what I was going to say. When the talk is over I feel a release. I’m a little depleted, but at the same time energized. I feel like a jump start battery that has just started a car. I gave something some juice.
This yearning is to create, and life is creation, so this yearning to create is the yearning of life itself. And life is timeless, so creation is timeless. When you get in alignment with creation—Buddhism calls this Dharma—you are timeless.
The Call of the Wild, The Call to Adventure, the Call to Love, The Call of the Hero, The Call of the Unknown…all the same Call. Something is calling me to go beyond my “night and day.” Listen to your call. Answer the phone.
