The Way of Watts is the Transcendent Way, the Way of Surrender, the Way of Bliss…the Dharma Way…so many ways…but all are basically that of figuring out how to drop out of the Ego control of life, which is also our collective control of life. The Ego and Matrix (or culture) is two sides of the same coin. You can’t be free of the Ego unless you free yourself from What People Think. What people think is what you think about your self. The Way of Watts is to be free from the tyranny of thinking. The dictatorship of Thinking is being held hostage by ones past and memory, which is also the collective memory of our society and even civilization all the way back to its beginning. This is no small job being from from that.
You know, I’m sure we would all like to have a guru or Master teacher to guide us, but most of us don’t, so we have to find out teachers in our everyday world, and the Teaching will appear is you want it. This is the Truth. The teacher will come if you invite him, but the Teacher is not necessarily a person. All Masters are just the Teaching in a form. So you can invite the Teaching without a person. The Teaching can appear in movies, TV and in books and in everyday mind, everyday world. But…you have to want the Teaching like you want air if your head is held under water. You have to want with all your heart to be free of suffering, and you also have to realize that through personal effort you cannot liberate yourself. This realization is the awakening of Faith Mind. You want what you cannot create, you want liberation but you realize you cannot liberate yourself. This is a paradox, isn’t it. This is the action in non-action.
Eastern teachings that flooded into America in the 50s and 60s not only from England but from Japan after WWII have been like the eclipse of our sun by the moon. We suddenly see the limitations of our absolute sun, we suddenly see that what we assumed was absolute and impervious to shadow is with limitations. What is this hand over my eyes? Is it the hand of God? When I believe I’m God, that my world view is absolute and without a second, is that hand not God’s Hand.
We have an eclipse coming up and I can’t help but riff with it….The moon has always been associated with the Goddess while the Sun with the Sun God..that which is never diminished. Kings were always associate with the Sun God. While the Goddess was sent into the night with the Phantom of the Opera. But when she passes her hand across the Eye of the Sun…we are awakened to our limitations. Women do that do men. The Sun Ego has limitations and is always subject to an eclipse.
