This is hurricane season, and that”s a good metaphor for understanding the “alternate realties” that are being spawned over the warm waters of the Media Ocean we now float in. We used to be grounded in physical reality, I mean we as humanity. Suddenly, we have cut the rope to physical form, to home towns, to networks of families who lived in one place for generations. We have cut the rope…and the result is either liberation or madness.
Alternate realties are everywhere. We don’t even see them. Corporations brand us into their world, Cable channels us into their worlds. Every alternate reality is like a religion out to convert us, to steal us from other realities, and then destroy the realties that are a threat to our dominance.
Zoom our so you can see the Information Ocean and all the Reality Hurricanes growing and dying there. You have big ones and little whirlwinds in the street sweeping up leaves. Even youtube creates little whirlwinds that has hopes of being a hurricane on the Information Sea.
Learned a new word today, Patios. Patois (/ˈpætwɑː/, pl. same or /ˈpætwɑːz/) is speech or language that is considered nonstandard, although the term is not formally defined in linguistics. As such, patois can refer to pidgins, creoles, dialects, or vernaculars, but not commonly to jargon or slang, which are vocabulary-based forms of cant.
it’s a closed language that only those within the group understand. It is not open. I use this Patios to describe phenomena like Alex Jone as an emotional Patios. Only those who identify with Jones understand his language. I’m reminded of a preaching that is an emotional delivery system, an emotional experience rather than a logical presentation of information.
Our Media is creating symbolic Patios, closed information systems or languages that deliver emotional charged meaning. The content changes with the day, but the delivery system stays the same. We tune in for the emotional connection of bonding. We FEEL atonement in the Patios.
Trump is a Patios, a feeling reality communicated by symbolic language. The Wall is symbolic language. An emotional Patios communicate through symbolic and coded language, but the danger and the illusion is that its members think the symbols are real facts. But the Patios is an emotional story that bonds you to a feeling of power and release of anger. The Patios has no real ground in reality as the language is all symbolic, like Bible Stories looking for the real Noah’s ark in order to have any validity.
