Well, I jumped around here a lot so I hope you could follow. The main points is that our media reality (which is where we get the news of the world and meaning of the world and events) is caught in a post-modern double-bind where every opinion and perspective is equal. And when political strategist get hold of it, my guy’s sin is not so bad since your guy did it too. Never mind that my guy robbed a bank and your guy stole a bike. Sin is sin.
The purpose of this strategy which has been successful for the last 40 years on the right is to create the inability to choose value because they are all presented as equal. A talking head appears on both sides with equivalent but opposite logic and evidence. Who do you call to choose truth, since you can’t….Well you call or vote for Fox and Party because they present themselves as the saviors of Truth. They will save you from the suffering of confusion and self doubt and uncertainty. I can choose for you because I know the truth. Believe me. I’ll save you from yourself. As this strategy cements itself into the social body, you have a party of people who are captivated by their handlers who get to choose truth for them. The same problem with religion, and all systems that take away your power and make you dependent upon them.
The hospitals do that to mothers. Natural childbirth is now hospital birth. The institution has intervened and become indispensable. Products become indispensable. I can’t do without my Crest. So this is not just politics. Everywhere you turn we have dispensed with our natural power and deferred to the experts. We can’t choose the cereal.
