Self Loathing and the Lost Mirror

June 23, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

This talk was a surprise to me for I had no idea it was going to take off in the direction it did: the Mirror and the Reflection…how they got separated and how they come back together in Insight Dialogue, which is what we have here in these talks. Or, for that matter, in my writing here.

This is called, at least I call it, Following the Dharma Trail. Like children gathering Easter eggs, we run together picking up clues to leads to the Easter Bunny, the source of the Easter eggs of rebirth. Get the metaphor here? Insight Dialogue is a dialogue where you roam freely to pick up clues that connect the dots to greater and greater understanding.

Just to connect the dots in this talk, Original Sin is original separation. It is not a “sin” but a “turning away” that we all do. We are born in unity, wholeness, and then we separate, thanks to the conditioning of our materialistic culture, and just because we do, and then there is the journey to restore unity. Today we think that conclusion to the journey is death when we “go to a better place.” There is no better place for unity than this moment. The reflected image that is separated from its mirror (original sin) yearns for unity, to restore lost paradise. Our whole economy is built on this yearning for the One….and. our consumer economy offers us the ONE as a product, this ONE will remove your suffering…but it never does.
