I’m a Zen Entertainer

November 29, 2017 by admin 1 Comment

Okay, let roll with this. During the talk, which I hope you watch now if you haven’t. It will make my life easier because I want you to get the joke. I discovered something about my Uncle Pride and Joy, or his business card that I use. When I say do you want to see my Pride and Joy, I’m telling the truth. This card is my Pride and Joy. And I saw that I was saying that for the first time during the talk. A Zen Entertainer is someone who entertains you (the audience) AND himself at the same time. The ONE is the laughter that holds the Two that is you and me.

Zen is about spontaneous seeing of the Truth, or the One in the Two, which is also irony. Zen is the ironic path. But as I said, I’m not a Zen Buddhist, so don’t hold me to anything I say. Nor am I a Buddhist, so don’t sick the Buddha’s Sutras on me, hitting me with the Bible, so to speak.

But most entertainers has prepared their routine, tested their jokes, but a Zen Entertainer uses no notes. The is as fundamental Trust that when he steps up before you Live, he is going to have a Zen Satori, and discoverer something he didn’t see before, you will see it as he sees it. That is Zen. This is why we like anything Live because you can be surprised. Zen is a surprise!

Seeing is a surprise. Not the everyday seeing that is conditioned by what we saw before. Zen seeing is like Alzheimers, you are seeing something for the first time. You encounter the person you live with and see them for the first time. That’s Zen.

Zen Seeing is my Pride and Joy, emphasis on the Joy…which is the cleaner. The Pride just polishes it up.

Another joke I made in this talk was that Truth is very, very simple. This can’t be, we think, so when truth happens we pile our opinions, stories, should and should not, regrets and hopes on it. Don’t believe me, just watch it happen around you. In fact, Zen Entertainment is all about you looking in your own life to see the joke. Just watch what we do to the simple truth of Just This. We just don’t believe the truth. It has to be embellished, sauced up, added to, framed and hung on the wall of our story. Nothing can be Just This.

Life is laughter, and that’s why we need more Zen Entertainers to point out the jokes. We take ourselves to seriously. We think we can fix ourselves and the world. HAH! When you see that you can’t..you have just fixed yourself.
