As a metaphor a Trump Burger is a burger you can’t swallow or cough up. Carrying out the metaphor, the government ate a Trump Burger this weekend. The reason a Trump Burger gets stuck in the throat is because it’s ambiguous; it doesn’t know if its as burger or a cheese sandwich. When you try to swallow it, it wants to come up; when you want it to come up, it wants to be swallowed.
My friend has a big rack of ribs and I called it a Stormy Daniels…you know, big rack I see en everywhere, because I see Zen Koans everywhere. I see dilemmas or double-binds, and that is a trap out of which you cannot get, no matter how much you struggle. In fact, you discover that it is the struggle that creates the double-bind. We all experience lose/lose situations. Ironically, Trump got electing by promising to gets us our of the Zen Koan of lose/loser. We going to win/win, he said, so you’r be tired of winning. Trump promised to get us out of the double-bind our politics has become over the last 40. years since the rise of Movement Conservatism.
What has created the double-bind that is new in our history? The injection of Moralism on the Right. When the opposite party become evil, and the president the Anti-Christ, and their policies desires a sin, you have the end of compromise and creative government. When one side is a moral side, then the other side is the immoral side, and policy issues become a matter of solution salvation. You can’t compromise with Evil, as everyone know. And with the end of compromise, you have the end of American Government.
This creates the need by the moral party to elect a moral authority that will make their moral party the ONE party, and this is the only way they can end the dead-lock because compromise is not on the table We see this every day. The only way out is to elect an authoritarian who will force the moral party into complete control, ending the grid lock.
How has that worked out?
Ironically, I think we are in good shape for the future because the Moral Party has been destroyed by Trump. There are no principles left upon which the moral party can stand. The result is the the Republican Party will once again become the pragmatic business party, instead of the religious/business party. You can’t mix morality with business, unless. you have a church store. Religious values based in the Bible are in direct conflict with the secular values or plurality and inclusion that is the bedrock of our nation.
The domain of religion is subjective; the domain of government and science is objective. When they get mixed, you have prose and poetry fighting each other for the correct interpretation.
