Avatar is a Buddha teaching, a dream to wake up by. What that end moment when Jake wakes up as Navi, having fused his earth body with the Pandora body?
I’m reminded of Buddha shout when he awakened: “Throughout heaven and earth I alone am the honored One.”
Or when Jesus said: “Unless a seed falls to the ground and dies, it remains alone. If it dies it brings forth much fruit.”
And so Jake dies and brings forth much fruit. Avatar is a metaphor that points to our own awakening of our Buddha Nature. The One that has no second. This One is the First Person I AM….
In the movie you have both objective view of reality, the Sky People, which is our western view, and the Subjective view of Pandora where mind and body are one. But the reality is not one or the other, which is the dark night of soul Sully found himself in when he was suspended in limbo between both world, rejected by both, neither one or the other, and to break out of this ambiguous in between place, this no-man’s land, he made the mad leap onto the Last Shadow or death, or not Knowing. And out of that leap, he now commanded the dragon or Life itself and became the One without a Second.
The Last Shadow is a metaphor for Life that is death. The Dragon that consumes itself. Life consumes itself; life feeds on life, so life is death and death is life….when one leaps on the back of this dragon you become the Dragon. You become life that is death, death that is life….you become the creative force of life itself…you become LIFE.
