Church and state are separated in our society by our constitution, however, they are mixing through the back door of ideology, not physical churches, per se. This is the ideology of the Chosen People who will inherit the kingdom. In a pluralistic society, equanimity is the principle that makes it work, not the rights of the Chosen against the rights of the Not Chosen. The problem with restoring unity to the fragmented plurality through the moral right of the few, is that the moral right can only define itself by its unmoral opposite. And Idea of Unity of the many which is the Idea of America cannot exist through the force of exclusion, of excluding the many for the sake of the few. This is an attack on and the destruction of the founding Idea of America.
The insanity in this fake ideology is that if the Chosen People removed all that were Not Chosen, they would also remove themselves, since their very identity rests in them being Chosen as different from the Not Chosen. The special are defined by the not special.
What we are trying to understand here, at least I am, is that being the Chosen by God is as spiritual principle that is always at work in our individual lives, in our interior lives, how we view ourselves in the world as being winners or losers: Why did he get chosen instead of me?
But when this spiritual principle is applied to your group, then I am chosen and special because I belong to a special group (religion). This is the result of misunderstanding the ancient Bible where the Hebrews understood metaphor. The people of Israel were metaphorical one person, you and me. All the stories in the Bible are to me interpreted metaphorically and not literally. When you read it like history, then you want to identify with the Bible and become the Chosen People by believing in the Membership card, Jesus. So your church becomes the Chosen People. We all want to be special or the Chosen.
