Yes…everything is Okay, always Okay. Or it is not Okay. Sometimes Okay, sometimes not Okay. But I ask what is the reference that measures what is okay and not. Okay? Is everything that happens compared to some Imaginary Perfect Okay, and then what happens is given so many inches of Okay?
How many inches of Okay does this Okay get? I’m just enquiring into the nature of Okay and what it actually is, since everything seems to be judged by how Okay it is. There is absolutely THIS IS NOT OKAY, and there seems to be an absolute THIS IS A PERFECTLY OKAY. And we live between these two bookends of misery.
Whatever Okay we have, it could be a little or a bigger Okay. So what IS this OKAY? Why do we chop up experience and judge it’s level of OKAYNESS? Is today really better than yesterday, or right now really better than an hour ago? Is Okay a myth?
Some imaginary judge inside my mind holds the ruler to every moment to report how many inches of OKAY I have? What would life be like without this slide-ruler hanging from the belt of my mind? Why do I have to engineer my life? How many inches of Okay do I need in order to be Okay?
We are always living in some chapter of this book, some state of ignorance. Zen says there is a trace of ignorance in enlightenment. Without the stain, there would be no purity, no leap to purity, no discovery of being OK and the world being OK….Truth is always a discovery. Never static, never arrived at and settled. I”M OK and the World is OK is a dynamic unity, always discovered, always a surprise.
