“When you are present, when your attention is fully in the Now, Presence will flow into and transform what you do. There will be a quality and power in it. You are present when what you are doing is not primarily a means to an end (money, prestige, winning) but fulfilling in itself, when there is joy and aliveness in what you do.”Eckhart Tolle (from The Power of Now)

There are many metaphors for striking oil or finding the treasure. Presence will flow into what you are doing, joy, aliveness, quality and power. WOW! Don’t we all want that. The Holy Grail, so to speak. Basketball players call it being in the zone, a magical place where you can do no wrong. Everything works effortlessly. Effortless action seems to be the common theme here. The action seems to be doing you.
The million dollar question is how one discovers this treasure. What are the means to this end. And why do I want this end? Money, prestige, winning? Why do I want the treasure. Effortless action is when the means are not separated from the end. The end IS the means; the means is the end. Unity in your life is restored. You have dropped out of time where the means (the Now) and the end (the future) are separated. Present means having no future.
