“Do not resist your pain. Surrender to the grief, despair, fear, loneliness, our whatever form the suffering takers. Witness it without labeling it mentally. Allow it to be there. Embrace it. Then see how the miracle of surrender transmutes deep suffering into deep peace.” Eckharte Tolle (from A New Earth)
Tolle is a master of translating Christian teaching into everyday mind language that bypasses the Exclusive Christian message that only Christians have access to the teaching through membership in their special club. Like Amazon Prime, you have to joint club to get the benefits.
In the same way that the Protestant Reformation made grace through Catholic sacraments available to everyman, Tolle makes the grace of Christ’s Teachings available to secular modern man. The message of Christ on the Cross and Tolle are essentially the same: Embracing the Cross, your pain, activates the Resurrection, or deep suffering into deep peace. What could be more clear? However, if you notice, the teaching of the Church is objective; the teaching of Tolle is subjective. Same teaching, different view point.
As we connect the dots in the two teachings we can see how muddy the Christian Teaching has become because it has placed its access to grace through belief. Tolle Teaching is not a belief but a practice. You have to apply the teaching like a balm to your wound in order for healing to take place. Just believing in the label on the medicine won’t do.
This is the difference between the Objective Teaching and the Subjective Teaching. The Objective is about fixing IT; the Subjective is about Awakening I, the resurrection of the I AM from the cave of the I am an IT.
