“When you have reached a certain degree of presence, you no longer need negativity to tell you what is needed in your life situation—but as long as negativity is there, use it. Whenever you notice that some form of negativity has arisen within you, look on it not as a failure, but as a helpful signal that reminds you to be more present.” Eckhart Tolle
Without the wick of negativity, there would be no flame of awareness. This is a great metaphor, the lantern with the wick that you can turn up to get a brighter flame. When you are aware of negativity (pain) in the mind, don’t turn the wick down, turn it up. Ask the wick of negativity (form) to reveal itself to you (awareness). Awareness needs form like the wick needs lamp oil. While awareness will burn on the positive pleasure, it burns brightest on the negative.
