Monday with ET: “If you are content with being nobody in particular, content not to stand out, you align yourself with the power of the universe. What looks like weakness to the ego is in fact the only true strength. This spiritual truth is diametrically opposed to the values of our contemporary culture and the way it conditions people to behave.” E. Tolle from A New Earth.
Good afternoon….In Christian terminally we could frame this a the value of the world vs the value of God. Being a “nobody” is the surrender of the ego or sense of separate self—not to something like a God or another set of values that you feel are higher, like your ideal of who you should be—to the present moment or the Now. This is not a choice between two systems or ideas. This is the surrender of choice to just being authentic, not having any filters, labels, or imposing or unimposing image. Being content with being “nobody” is being content with exactly what is both externally and internally. You are content with the experience you are having.
Remember, the ego defines itself through its resistance, not the the world, but to its experience of the world. Can you see how this divides you? You are your experience. To resist and which your experience were different is to wish to be somebody other than who you are. And that’s insane.
