The Temple Inside is an exterior reflection of your interior temple, or your Heart. Leave your shoes, the duality of your mind, the door of your temple and surrender you heart there. You spiritual practice is not complete unless you provide some space for your heart and devotion, where you can surrender the mind and its control. Whatever you put on your altar, in your inner/outer temple, whatever image makes no difference as long as your heart resonates with it. The child does not care what kind of teddy bear he has, its color and size.
What’s important, however, is not not bring divisions into your temple. You god or deity is not the Universal God, but your god, your local god. All gods are local, all gods are ethnic and like spokes point to the same hub, the same empty hub of the heart.
As you can see on my rather large altar, all the deities are invited. When you heart is open, you integrate with everything, everything integrates with you. You are the center and the center is you. You are the world and the world is you. That’s how you feel when you live from the heart, from your center.
