The Culture of Anxiety

September 12, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

As we inquire into the nature of the Cosmic Egg or our Culture, we are going into the interior, the unexplored country because we have to give up, we have to see through the conditioning if the very culture we are embedded in. The Culture grows on the seed implanted at childhood that we are a mind that is outside of culture, and our education trains us to operation and change the culture as if from the outside. Culture is out there or IT. But the culture can’t be fixed or changed because we are not outside of it. The fish is in the bowl, it is not outside of the bowl, so it can’t operate on the bowl. This creates anxiety because we know something is wrong but no matter what we do, we can’t remove the floating anxiety.

Culture then sells us remedies for the anxiety its creates by splitting our minds into the belief that my consciousness is outside of the culture as an objective world. The awakened truth is that we are the culture thinking I am outside of the culture. And this truth is a radical revolutionary discovering, a SEEING, that changes everything.

We get a glimpse once and a while, but Culture has First Responders that like pond algae comes in to erase clarity and sanity. Like Gravity, Culture does everything it can to keep our minds split. When the mind becomes whole, the game is up for Culture. You are still in it but you don’t buy it. Now you try to tell others about the great deception, and they think you are crazy.

We have to get the secret truth under the covers in movies, art, and metaphorical language. The subliminal mind, the sleeping Body Mind gets the message while the conscious cultured mind just enjoys the entertainment as a diversion from the anxiety of culture.

The Bunsen Burner of Culture heats up fear and anxiety and creates a divided mind hating itself because of the split in its mind. That burner is planted in us in childhood when we are acculturated into the laboratory. This burner created the great Consumer Culture we now enjoy, but too much comfort always turns into pain. Our compulsion to consume has now reached its natural limitation, and the split mind that created the eternal consumer is not turning on itself.

The split mind created Eternal Consumerism by putting one half of the mind outside of the bowl of culture and its twin buried in culture. When we are dissatisfied with culture, we buy what culture offers as a remedy for the dissatisfaction. But the source of the dissatisfaction is our exile from our own twin half, buried unconsciously, asleep, in culture. Until we wake up, our wound will never heal.

I think Mad Men is a expose of when American Culture created the split minded Consumer. After WWII, when the American mind was not split, TV and mass production of consumer goods came into existence. And with TV came advertising which is a product delivery system that splits the mind by creating the discomfort with one’s current state so you will buy a remedy to that induced discomfort in the new product.

Don Draper is the personification of this Split Mind, the Image Man who fears exposure of his lie that he has divided himself and lives in an abstraction of himself. Today’s full coverage Media has just taken this division to a new level. Image men are a war with other images. Reality itself is now divided into a split screen of two Sumo Wrestlers fighting to restore America to its lost wholeness.

It really goes back to Descartes and the scientific revolution that discovered the abstracted self which sits outside of reality and operates on it. This is a cultural birth of operational thinking that occurs in childhood. The scientist operates on reality to predict and control the future through discovering the “laws of nature” like the mechanic operates on the car by reading the manual. This externalized self has now become our Ego, the modern Ego and it is in exile from reality as it believes it is outside of reality as a separate thing. While in reality this exiled self is just a convention, a secondary way of operating on reality. The primary Self that IS reality is been put to sleep in western consciousness. Other cultures try to keep it awake, hence the conflict of consciousness between cultures, especially Islam and Judaism.

Western religion since DesCarte has lost its previous role of preserving the self was incorporated into the western ego because it has become the only ego, or self. So Western religion fights for the Self on the playing field of secular materialism. All fundamentalism is a revolt and an exodus from this secular playing field of duality where conflict and competition is the only game in town. They seek the One without a Second, our primary unity in time by removing your enemy…so that your team, your position is the One without a Second…and this returns us to Facebook where options fight to be the One without a second.
