The Crack in the Cosmic Egg

August 29, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

Crack in the Cosmic Egg takes us to a discussion of the difference between the modern and post modern world, in which we now live. The Modern world because with the cracking up of the Medieval Egg, but it created another egg, the modern empirical rational objective egg, a reality we believe exists outside of and separate from you and me. Our “cosmic egg” assumption is the you as a thinking self exists separate from the world you perceive, and the world acts upon you indifferent to your needs, so one has to exert force upon the world to make it bend to your personal needs. But the fundamental assumption here that keeps the “egg” intact is that the material world as you perceive it existed before you were born and will exist after you die. We experience ourselves in this world as another thing, the many among the many and there is no center in this world, no fixed place, as Einstein said. There is no fixed place from which to view the material world of space time. This cosmic egg is cracking up in the same way the Medieval Egg graced up.

When the Egg begins to crack, both. the collective reality Egg and our personal Egg (both eggs depend upon each other, nesting within each other) we go through anger or depression. The great fear is chaos, a form of psychosis where incoming information has no reality story in which to frame it and give a stable sense of meaning and a ground upon which to stand.

This is the appeal of the authoritarian who will come into the field of fear and confusion and offer stability and a center one can believe in. Chaos is averted by the surrender of consciousness. One willingly goes to sleep in this new dream that promises to keep away the nightmare of a disintegrating Cosmic Egg.

But all chicks in the egg know when it’s time to break out. They know there is a bigger world outside the egg. We all know that. Adolescence is the breaking out of the childhood psychological womb, in the same way the fetus breaks out of the mother’s word. We live in one womb after another. Life is a continuous breaking out of one womb after another, like Russian Nesting Dolls.

We all have cracks in our mind egg, interior experiences that don’t fit our exterior reality map, experiences our family may not understand.

For that matter Trump is a crack in the America Egg. He doesn’t fit our reality map. Like Harvey, we have never experience a storm like Trump. Our assumed reality map is rational, based on evidence, and within the context of history, a continuum of expectation with small variations.

Global warming doesn’t fit the reality map of many. We are in a time of change when cracks are appearing everywhere and its freaking people out.

Harvey is creating cracks in our expectations of a weather system. The damns are cracking. We are going to need a bigger reality map.

When you meet a spiritual master, or even a therapist, or a wisdom teaching in a book, or a personal experience that doesn’t fit previous experience, you have a Crack in your Egg. If you cling to your womb, the light that comes through the crack is perceived as the darkness of chaos. Oblivion. But if. you don’t resist and react, the darkness changes to the light of possibility. This is the light of your own consciousness that like a child is by nature open to possibility and learning and adventure into new worlds.
