Dogwhistle Politics are over

August 17, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

THE END OF DOG WHISTLE POLITICS or the politics of hypocrisy is over. From Nixon to Trump Republican polices has bee that of the dog whistle. This metaphor describes a politics that says one thing but does the opposite. It says it is not racist but does racist policies, and the secret racists hear the dog whistle clearly, and like a blood hound follow this sound to do the masters bidding.

No wonder the Southern white feels the victim. They are the victim of Dog Whistle policies where the master has made them into slaves who vote of policies that go against their interest. And then their master blames their pain of the Liberals, so they keep voting against themselves, divided against themselves, and hating themselves for being divided, but they can’t see the pattern, they can’t see the ruse, they can’t see the master with the whistle.

So Trump comes along and says no more dog whistle. I’m proud to be a segregationist, I’m proud to divide the nation against itself, and so Trump blows a new dog whistle. Come to me, he says, and you won’t have to be a hypocrite any more. I’ll restore America (You) to your true nature, that of a racist. You won’t have to wear a sheet, you won’t have to be ashamed, you won’t have to hide. Now you can be proud and march in the streets. You can come out of your closet now and be honest like me. Let me be. your voice. Let me be your mind….

The old dog whistle is gone…but a new one is being blown.

Sin repressed, sin rejected, sin avoided becomes hypocrisy, which is the bigger sin because it can’t be rooted out if it is not admitted. Unless awareness dares to enter the dark side, there is no healing of the split mind, the hypocritical mind.

For 50 some years American politics on the right has been blowing the dogwhistle of hypocrisy, giving our original sin—slavery, the master/slave relationship—a safe place to hide in the open. The oppression of one people by another is a sin against the unity of life. It must be covered, rationalized, and stored in the unconscious in order for it to have life, to have flesh and blood.

A hypocrite is an unconscious mind divided from its own body or actions. The mind thinks one thing, the body does the opposite. But in order to obey the life commandment to be One body and mind, the actions of the body are projected onto the Enemy, and then fights the enemy in order to get rid of one’s own painful hypocrisy. This is the Catch 22 of the double-bind. Divided against yourself, everything you do becomes a lose/lose situation.

The Dogwhistle day of police are now over. Racism doesn’t have to hide, the racist does not have to wear a sheet. Racism is out of the closet….At least we know how the enemy is, and the enemy admits who they are. Better the line drawn in the open than behind a veil of innocence.
