America Inside versus Outside

May 17, 2017 by admin Leave a Comment

Looking at today’s Trump news from a Zen view, what’s the wide angle view? What’s going on in America? Why can’t we find Unity? Is Trump a symptom? Is Trump a metaphor for our living in media instead of in reality? Is Trump a mythic Image Man. Is Trump real or a character in a living historical novel. Is Trump playing his own ideal: The Great Trump? Is Trump the American Dream? Are we walking up? Oh…so many question.

People, especially on the media, keeps saying how quickly events are moving. A week ago seems like a year. Is time speeding up? It does feel that way. Time is movement, and when events move quickly, world changing events, time feels like it’s speeding up or slowing down. But it doesn’t seem normal and measured, and dull, like Mayberry where life was slow and things were always the same.

Perhaps its our living in 24/7 cable news now. We used to have our 30 min. evening news as our reference to the outside or national world. Now the window is always open, and in order to keep a media breeze blowing everything is presented as a sudden burst of damaging wind that seems to pretend a tornado.

And this sense of rapid change creates a storm of pundit thought that tries vainly to contain this change. Comments and opinions are first responders to the fire alarm of change. Theories abound to provide meaning in uncertain times. Everyone looks in the past to find a reference that explains today. I’m listing to Morning Joe where a book author connects Trump to Nazi Germany and the rise of similar forces.

Media reminds me of my own mind when I have something happen or going to happen that is creates a split in my feeling of being Okay. Thinking comes in and tries to restore order and well being. It can’t, so it just tape loops around the wound. What is this wound in America that thinking can’t heal?
